Supporting veterans & former members of the armed forces

VeteransAs an NHS Trust, Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust is committed to supporting any former members of the armed forces so they can gain access to the healthcare services they need.

As a Trust we have officially registered our commitment by signing armed forces community covenants in St Helens and Warrington.

Bridgewater also gives priority access to healthcare for veterans as long as it is for a condition or illness relating to their time in service e.g. physiotherapy for a leg injury or counselling for post-traumatic stress disorder.

To access priority treatment simply tell a Bridgewater member of staff about your background in the armed forces and how it relates to your condition.

Accessing healthcare after you have left the armed forces

When you leave the armed forces the responsibility of your healthcare is given to the NHS. It is essential that you register with a GP and tell them you are a former member of the armed forces as you may be entitled to priority treatment for any conditions relating to your time in service.

You can find a GP and information on the local hospitals in your area by visiting www.nhs.uk.
