NHS England (Cheshire, Warrington and Wirral) and Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust are delighted to announce that they have agreed and signed a contract to provide General Practice Services at the Willaston Surgery, Neston Road, Willaston.
The new contract follows the retirement of Dr Meyer who previously held the contract.
The new contract will run from 1st July 2014 and will include plans for weekend opening at the surgery which the Trust intend to introduce from early 2015.
Alison Tonge, Director of Commissioning at Cheshire Warrington & Wirral Area Team for NHS England said: “We wish Dr Meyer a happy retirement and would like to assure patients that the changeover will result in minimal disruption as a replacement GP will take over the care of Dr Meyer’s patients. The other GPs at the surgery will continue to see their patients as before.
“We are delighted that the new contract is in place and that patients in Willaston will continue to have access to the high quality primary care service that they should expect from the NHS”.
Dr Kate Fallon, Chief Executive of Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust and a former GP, said: “We are delighted to have signed the contract for the delivery of General Practice Services at Willaston Surgery.
“We are looking forward to working with patients, staff and our commissioners to deliver this service and our Medical Director Dr Stephen Ward, who is also a former GP, is very keen to attend a meeting of the Willaston Surgery Patient Participation Group to present our vision for the practice.”
