Warrington’s 0–19 integrated service will be taking part in National Smile Month from 15 May to 15 June to raise awareness of the importance of good oral health.
The team which consists of Oral Health Improvement, Health Visitors, School Health, Family Nurse Partnership and Breast Feeding team will be promoting key oral health messages across Warrington by working with children’s centre staff, pre-schools, primary schools and local shopping centres.
Warrington’s 0–19 integrated service is provided by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Bridgewater) in partnership with Warrington Borough Council.
Marion Stockton, Oral Health Improvement Lead for Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said:
“A healthy mouth supports us to eat, speak and smile with confidence and helps us to have a healthy body. During National Smile Month we will be promoting key messages for good oral health across the borough. These messages include brushing your teeth twice a day including for two minutes last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with a fluoride toothpaste, cutting down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks and visiting your dentist regularly.”
The oral health team already works closely with nurseries, pre-schools, primary schools, children’s centres and a number of adult groups delivering oral health education sessions, setting up and monitoring supervised toothbrushing programmes and distributing toothbrush/toothpaste packs.
The team will be visiting Birchwood Shopping Centre on Wednesday 31 May from 10am to 3pm and Asda Cockhedge Community Cafe on Monday 5 June from 10am to 2pm to promote the importance of good oral health to local families.
