Bridgewater celebrates its Stars of the Month for February 2015

Our shining Bridgewater examples this month include an Administrator and a Clinical Service Manager who supported another service to ensure that urgent medication was available at very short notice and our drivers who delivered urgent medication outside of their working hours.

Stars of the Month is an internal scheme within Bridgewater which recognises Trust staff nominated by their colleagues for going above and beyond in their roles.

Children’s Services

Stars of the Month for February

Hearing Screening Team, Paediatric Audiology for Halton in St Helens & KnowsleyTeam consists of Jane Donnelly, Lauretta Armstrong, Ashley Fitzpatrick, Trish Brennan, Karen Reilly, Rebecca Melling, Margaret Wakefield and Linda Frackelton

Over the years this team has achieved the highest possible standards evidenced by regular internal and external audits. They kept the momentum going over the years despite many challenges thrown in their way. Most recently a report from Public Health England on the service showed that all quality standards were achieved at the highest standards. This team is a success story!!

Carole Harrison and Heather Bentley, School Nurses and Tracey Dennett Student Nurse at Astley and Platt Bridge Clinics

Carole, Heather, School Nurses and Tracey a pre-registration student nurse represented Wigan School Nursing Service at a Wigan Youth Zone Event. The School Nurses highlighted elements of Wigan’s School Nursing including School Nursing Core Programme, Smoking Cessation, Breast and Testicular Awareness, Sexual Health and Clinic in a Box/Drop Ins. There was also some very positive feedback from some of the young people attending the event who had recalled having Health Education and Health Promotion in relation to Smoking Cessation.

Nichola Hollingworth, a Health Visitor in Wigan

The organisation has received a complementary letter from parents who expressed the valued support from Nichola as their Health Visitor, recognising her exceptional listening skills and offers of endless support during a very difficult time.

Lesley Roberts, a Health Visitor in Wigan

Lesley is a valued member of Hindley Health Visiting team. Even though there have been movement of staff and recent sickness Lesley has continued to provide an efficient and professional service for clients and support for her team.

Kerry Nuttall, a Health Visiting Assistant in Widnes

Kerry works above and beyond in her role, she is incredibly supportive of colleagues and shows enthusiasm and great energy in everything she does. She supports clinical staff and steps into the admin role as needed to ensure the team functions effectively.

Christine Parkinson, a Community Staff Nurse in Widnes

Chris works extremely hard and goes above and beyond her role by cancelling and rearranging days off to support the team. This has ensured that children receive health reviews on time and the service is maintained during a colleagues sickness

Gail Mann, the Clinical Lead Children’s Services in Warrington

Excellent work towards the Bridgewater Quality Account around improvement in the quality of services for the forthcoming year.

Adult Services

Employee of the Month: Lyn Gasteen, an Administrator at Wigan Out Of Hours

Provided support to another service Warrington Out of Hours Service to ensure process for To Take Out (TTO) was able to continue. Lyn arranged the supply of urgent medication at very short notice to assist weekend working and continuation of To Take Out (TTO) medication to support necessary stock for patient care.

Employee of the Month: Kenny Leicester and Chris Hardy,  Drivers at the Transport and Stores Department in Warrington

Supported transfer of urgent medication needs at short notice outside normal working hours.

Employee of the Month: Louise Simpson, Acting Clinical Service Manager at Leigh Walk-in-Centre

At short notice supported another service to provide emergency To Take Out (TTO) medication for patients needs over the weekend.

Specialised Services

Nicola Broad, a Specialist Dermatology Nurse in Wigan

Excellent work towards the Bridgewater Quality Account around improvement in the quality of services for the forthcoming year.

Ann Shuttleworth, a PA and Business Facilitator in Wigan

Ann is the lynch-pin for the specialist services team and has been nominated for her unfaltering professionalism, knowledge, commitment and support to the patients, the team and to Bridgewater. Ann always goes above and beyond the call of duty – and we are very grateful for all that she does.

Jo Crooks, Wendy Biggs, Vicky Hart, Catherine Morris & Geoff Goodman, Senior Health Trainers in Wigan

The Senior Health Trainer Team has been instrumental in ensuring the delivery across Wigan Borough of a high quality, accessible and successful Health Trainer Service.
The Senior Health Trainers have their own caseload, supporting clients to make healthier lifestyle changes as well as providing leadership and support to the Health Trainer Team. They have supported their locality teams during a range of challenging situations, ensuring performance is maintained and that staffing gaps do not impact on the quality of the service offered.

Corporate Services

Jonathan Stafford, Finance Assistant in Wigan

Jonathan works with great efficiency in dealing with queries relating to invoices. He is always helpful and efficient within his role.

Trish Boardman, an Administration Assistant in St Helens

Trish has been nominated on behalf of the Haydock Health Visiting Team. Her role is to meet and greet the public and provide administrative duties for District Nursing’s, Health Visitors’ and other clinical staff who deliver services from Haydock Clinic. Trish is always pleasant and goes the extra mile to support staff with everyday requests. She is also calm, patient, helpful and polite when interacting with clients/ patients.

Andy Mcgrail, IT Services in Wigan

Andy has supported the wheelchair teams with the implementation of BEST. He has been responsive to the teams requests with any issues and has gone out of his way to solve problems to enable the teams to deliver an effective service. He is always happy to help and try new solutions to any problems posed. He has supported the teams by liaising with Warrington and Knowsley IT to ensure BEST works across the three services. He has a professional and friendly attitude and has been recognised by all members of the teams.
