Bridgewater celebrates its Stars of the month for June 2018

Stars of the Month is an internal scheme within Bridgewater which recognises Trust staff nominated by their colleagues for going above and beyond in their roles.

Halton and Warrington

Jenny Oliver, Secretary, Midwifery, Runcorn

Jenny is so accommodating and will go out of her way to help anyone.

A truly lovely genuine lady.

Wigan, St Helens, Dental, Oldham & Bolton

Ben Riley, Physiotherapist, Wigan

Ben leads the hydrotherapy on Tuesday at Platt Bridge, Wigan.

He helps patients overcome their fears of what they think hydrotherapy is. He makes it fun for them by having a competition on who can get the more points from guessing the songs on the radio which they use for patients to listen to whilst exercising.

They all comment on how good he was with the explanation of exercises he uses with them in the pool.

Jennifer Hood, Community Support Worker, Homeless Health Team, St Helens

Jen has been supporting a homeless client who has suffered a stroke and has numerous resulting health issues.

Jen has been praised by her manager for her hard work and commitment to her role, often going above and beyond what is expected of a community support worker, to ensure that the clients on-going health and social care needs are met.

Her work has been patient focused, professional and locally led, ensuring that services are joined up in approach to provide on-going care.

Kathryn Mawdesley, Support Services Administrator, Support Services, Wigan

Kathy kindly stepped in to offer additional support to Pemberton School nursing team to re-arrange an immunisation session.

Although Kathy was also extremely busy and based in another clinic, she went out of her way to offer assistance and support to ensure that children in Wigan could receive their immunisations on time.

Kathy is a true team player and a credit to Bridgewater.

Lynn Garner, Dental Nurse Manager, Specialised Dental, Seymour Grove

Lynn has been a part of the Trafford Team for over 40 years!

Lynn has seen many changes both within the NHS and also at Trafford.

She is very supportive of the Dental Nurses and Dentists and encouraging of anyone wanting to undertake post-qualifications or new roles.

She is very approachable and has a very caring manner and tries to help and accommodate everyone whilst juggling many responsibilities, but always remains calm and professional.

She always works over and above her contracted hours managing full time roles and responsibilities and is a very well respected member of our team.

Mandy Parry, Community Health Development Worker, Wigan

Janine Ronaldson, from Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Single Point of Access, asked for this nomination along with Mandy’s colleague Sheila Brown.

Mandy stayed with a patient supporting, transporting and packing her bag, making safe her home whilst organising a Care Home bed urgently.

All this helped reassure the patient and make her feel safe.

Nadine Beardsmore, Health Care Support Worker, School Nursing Service, Wigan

 Nadine helped health services navigate the building when the community reception was closed ensuring they had access the correct rooms and helped direct patients and visitors.

This impacted on Nadine’s own case load and she unselfishly sacrificed her time for the benefit of others. She is the true meaning of a team player and a credit to Bridgewater.

Paula Campbell, Health Visitor, Right Start Team, Spring Meadows Children Centre, Oldham

 Paula is a committed health visitor with a strong work ethic and goes the extra mile to support her colleagues, regularly coming into work on days off to cover clinics and meetings to avoid additional pressures on her colleagues.

Rachel Garcia, Health Care Support Worker, School Nursing Service, Wigan

Rachel helped health services navigate the building when the community reception was closed ensuring they had access the correct rooms and helped direct patients and visitors too.

This impacted on Rachel’s own workload and she unselfishly sacrificed her time for the benefit of others. She is the true meaning of a team player and a credit to Bridgewater.

Sheila Brown, CHDT Worker, Community Health Development Team, Wigan

Janine Ronaldson asked for this nomination to be made as Sheila, Janine and Wigan social services team worked so well together today.

Sheila went above and beyond her duty to help a lady that she had visited. The lady needed urgent respite and Sheila stayed with her, packed her bags appropriately and took her to the care home.

Mandy Housely, Pharmacy Technician, Offender Health, HMP Garth

Mandy was on her way down to one of the wings in HMP Garth to complete the medications for inspiring her colleagues with her resilience during a very challenge time.

 Amy is always helpful, providing advice and carries out actions/tasks in a timely manner.


Michaela Swift, Support Services Manager, Support Services, Bevan House, Wigan

Michaela found health records that were required for a safeguarding report, following many previous attempts, Michaela spent time to find these and we appreciate the time she spent to find the health records for the child.
