Description of service
The Joint Voice Clinic is a dedicated clinic for patients who are experiencing voice problems whereby there is access to a Specialist Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Doctor and Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) with the knowledge, skills and use of specialist diagnostic equipment to provide highly specialist assessment, advice and treatment planning.
This service model is considered to offer greater accuracy in diagnosis and enable access to appropriate support or intervention in a more timely and cost-effective manner.
Who can access the service?
Patients can access the clinic via a referral from their GP who have been experiencing a change or difficulty with their voice which has lasted for over 3 weeks can access this clinic.
These difficulties may be having an impact on a person’s ability to carry out their job (e.g. teachers, call centre workers) and/or be having an impact on communication in personal life.
How can people access the service?
Patients access this service via a Choose and Book service available via their GP, via the options within ENT services instead of being referred to a general ENT clinic (Speciality: ENT, Clinic type: Throat (including voice/swallowing), Service: ENT Voice Clinic).

The outpatient based service is offered at Halton Hospital, Runcorn.
