Description of Leigh Walk-in-Centre
At Leigh Walk-In-Centre we offer fast and convenient treatment by experienced, specially trained nurses.
No appointment is needed. Based at Leigh Health Centre.
Leigh Walk-in-Centre comprises of experienced health professionals with the knowledge and skills to provide highly specialist advice, assessment and treatment to the Community.
Leigh Walk-in-Centre treat minor illnesses or injuries such as:
- Sore throats or flu-like symptoms
- Infections or rashes
- Viral illnesses
- Minor burns, cuts or wounds
- Fractures, sprains and x-rays of upper/lower limbs
- Eye problems
- Minor head injuries
- Emergency contraception.
Please note: we cannot treat dental problems.
30 minutes before closing patients will be assessed but may be referred to their GP, out-of-hours GP or hospital A&E department.
X-ray Department opening times
Weekdays: 8.30am – 8.00pm
Saturdays: 8.30am – 5.00pm
Sunday and Bank Holidays: 9.00am – 5.00pm
Please note: One hour before closing, if department full to capacity, you may be asked to return the following day for an x-ray.
A dressing clinic is available by appointment 8.30am to 8pm Monday to Friday and is also available on some weekends on an ad hoc basis.

Early morning Phlebotomy service – appointment only
Please note: as from 1 June 2017 blood appointments at the Walk in centre can be made via Single Point of Access 01942 483483.
This service is available from 7am – 9am Monday to Friday
This service is an ideal solution for patients who do not want to take time off work.
Patients will need a blood form from their GP.
We do not do hospital consultant bloods, G.T.T. bloods tests or children under 16 years of age.

This is a confidential appointment service available on:
Monday: 9am – 6pm
Tuesday: 9am – 6pm
Wednesday: 9.30am – 5pm
Thursday: 9am – 6pm

Emergency contraception can be accessed seven days a week at the Walk-In-Centre. No appointment necessary.
24 hour blood pressure and cardiac monitoring service
This service is available seven days a week by appointment only at request of your GP.
